So, for the first 6 weeks of uploading to this channel, I was getting almost zero views and zero subscribers. And it got to a point where I realized I need to switch something up.

So, after making just a few small changes, I reached 10,000 subscribers just a few months

00:15

after creating this channel, which is just absolutely insane. So, in this video, I want to share five steps that I wish I knew earlier that will make the algorithm absolutely love your videos.

So, if you've clicked onto this video, you are probably in what I call the dead zone. And this stage is brutal because

00:31

this is the stage where you pour time into filming and scripting and editing and then the internet just acts like you don't even exist. And this is the exact stage where most creators quit.

In fact, I can think of a few times on my own journey where I was literally this close to giving up. But here's something that

00:48

might surprise you. As a content creator, you can genuinely go months with absolutely no results and then just one video can change everything.

But those breakout videos, they don't just happen by accident. If you want to make a video that literally changes your entire life overnight, there are a few

01:05

changes that you need to make first. And that's why the first step is to become a better storyteller.

So, here's the thing. Human beings are naturally drawn towards stories.

We can be mesmerized by great storytelling. And even back in the day when we were cavemen, we were probably gathering around the campfire

01:21

telling great stories about how one of the other cavemen almost got eaten by a saber-tooth tiger or something like that. But fast forward to today, storytelling is still a crucial part of how we communicate.

And if you can become a master storyteller, people will remember you. People will return to your

01:38

content time and time again. And of course, the algorithm will absolutely love you.

So, how do we tell better stories? Well, when it comes to telling stories as a content creator, I have a very, very simple rule that I use whenever I tell a story on YouTube.

And

01:54

by the way, the most viewed video on this channel is literally just a video of me telling a story. So clearly, this rule does work.

And the rule is that when you are telling a story, you want to focus on telling your audience the way it felt, not just the way it happened. Because here's the thing,

02:10

facts are forgettable. You could list dates, details, places, and people are just going to forget that 10 seconds later.

But when you tell someone how it felt, whether it's the rush of excitement, the doubt in your head, the panic in your chest, that's when people start to lean in. And that's when they

02:26

start to see themselves in you, and that's what makes your story so powerful. Okay, so step number two is using the paintosolution framework.

And this is actually a framework that the business world understands very well because if a company wants to sell you something, what they'll do is they will

02:43

focus on or even agitate your pain and then sell their product as the solution to that pain. For example, a skincare brand doesn't just say buy our product.

They say do you hate waking up with breakouts? Well, our product is going to clear your skin and solve that specific

02:59

painful problem. But the interesting part is that this is actually a very powerful idea in the world of content creation.

Because if you can get into the mind of your viewer and figure out what they're struggling with and what they find painful right now and then position your video as the bridge that

03:16

takes them from that pain to a solution, they're going to click your video every single time. And this is why every single video that you'll see about growing on YouTube or YouTube growth tips is specifically focusing on the pain of not getting any views.

And maybe

03:31

this is a little bit manipulative, but the game's the game. And this idea is extremely powerful regardless of the type of videos that you want to make.

Whether you want to inspire people, teach people something, help people, or simply just tell stories, this framework is unbelievably effective. Okay, so step

03:49

number three is don't be afraid to show off a little bit. Because here's the harsh truth.

If you are a creator with no views and no audience just yet, people are going to see your video next to other videos with maybe thousands or even millions of views, most of the time

04:04

they're going to click on the video with more views because they assume that it's higher quality. And you kind of have this catch22 situation where because you don't have any views yet, people assume that your video isn't worth watching.

But without those views, you can't prove that the video is worth watching in the

04:20

first place. And I wish that wasn't the case, but that is a problem that you are going to have to face as a beginner.

But there is a very powerful way to fix this, and that is by showing proof that you are worth listening to. So this could be results that you've gotten in your own life.

This could be something

04:36

you've built or it could just be a story that proves that you've been through the thing that you're talking about because if there's anything that you can say or any story that you can tell that's going to make people think, "Oh, this person is actually worth listening to," then that's going to really help to sidestep that issue of people assuming that your

04:52

videos are bad just because they don't have any views yet. Okay, so step number four is to find your unfair advantage.

Don't waste time trying to be the second best version of someone else. Instead, figure out what your unfair advantage is and then just go allin on that.

And I

05:08

genuinely believe that every single person has one of these. Every single person has an unfair advantage.

Maybe it's your personality. Maybe it's your sense of humor.

Maybe it's your ability to simplify complex ideas. Or maybe it's again your unique story.

But the point

05:23

is that you have something that other people cannot easily replicate. Now I cannot tell you what that thing is.

But once you figure it out, once you figure out your unfair advantage, that's when people will start to notice you. And here's the beautiful part.

The algorithm is designed to notice that as well.

05:39

Because if your unfair advantage makes people watch your videos for longer or even start to binge watch your channel, the algorithm is going to see that as proof that your video is worth showing to more and more people. Okay, so final step.

And I would say this step isn't quite as flashy as the other ones, but

05:56

it's probably the most important because the final step is to set your expectations. Because here's the thing, the bar as a creator is just high enough that almost nobody wants to actually put in the work to succeed.

Because most creators, they post a few videos and

06:12

they don't see immediate results and then they just assume that the algorithm just hates them and then they just give up. And there's actually a pretty hilarious statistic that shows this in the world of podcasts.

And it's that of all the podcasts that people start, around 90% of the podcasts don't even

06:28

get past episode 3. And of that remaining 10% of podcasts, 90% of those will quit after 20 episodes.

And really, just think about that for a second. A podcast could be in the top 1% simply because they got past episode 20.

And

06:44

content creation actually works the same way because the algorithm loves creators who are consistent over long periods of time. So if you are getting frustrated that you're not getting views just yet, don't mistake just being early with failing.

Because if you can outlast that

07:01

dead zone, if you can keep going when 99% of other creators quit and you keep slowly improving your videos over time, eventually the algorithm is going to absolutely love you. And if you are a new creator and you're waking up every single day with no new views on your

07:17

videos, I actually made this video for you right here where I give you five brutally honest reasons why your content isn't growing and exactly how to fix it. So yeah, click onto that video and I'll see you
